Reflective Essay Post

My research paper I found very informational I enjoyed doing it because I learned a lot of new things that I had no idea about.

I learned things about myself and about peoples health in general. I learned what fad diets are and how they effect people. I learned the pros and cons about them and healthy diets (more natural diets).  Fad diets are interesting because they are diets that people do and think that they are healthy because they lose weight but they only lose weight.  Some of these have some weird effects on people because you only eat the same thing every single day for a specific amount of time.

Also I learned that not all “healthy” diets are healthy. They may haven things in them that could be dangerous for the body or it may have an UN-healthy approach to them.  Also not every persons body is the same and can adapt to a diet the same way others do.

I feel like its important to get it out because people need to know what is really healthy for them and what isn’t. Also if someone does not need to go on a diet then they should force themselves to. I believe that people should go see a traditionalist before going on a diet.

If someone needs to go on a diet then they should do it the healthier way not in a way that is going to harm them. They need to balance eating, working out and sleep. I feel as if sleep is an important factor because no body really thinks of this as a huge part of a diet and it is. its just as important as eating and working out.

If you eat healthy and smaller proportions and you balance that out with exercising and sleep you will find yourself living a very healthy life style and it will make you a lot healthier. I’m glad that I chose this topic because i found it very informational.

Journey to Topaz

Chapter 10: Goodbye, Tanforan, pages 83-91

I didn’t want to move. I don’t want to leave this place i’ve called home for 4 months now and i don’t want to be separated from all the friends i’ve made. On top of that bad news i also got word back that pepper was dead how could this have happened. I wish I could be alone and just cry but there is no privacy in this place. I hope utah is better bigger and nicer. We have boarded the train and are on the road and the outside is so beautiful i miss the outside world i wish we could go back. (Yuki)

Chapter 11:  A Home in the Desert, pages 93-102

This place is just as worse as the last. Maybe worse. They say that all these things are going to be built but i have no hopes that it will get better. I wish i had more energy to do more things but i do not want to do any of it i just want to sleep and wake up in hopes that this is all just a horrible nightmare.

Chapter 6: Home is a Horse Stall, pages 49-58

Coming here i thought there would be a bit more. I thought that they would actually try and make us feel like home and a bit more safe but that wasn’t the case at all. We were even worse we didn’t really have a place to comfortably live and the food well i wouldn’t even call what they gave us food. It wasn’t even enough for a baby to be satisfied let alone a growing family. I’m glad that we finally got our things tho i’m not sure we would have survived the cold harsh nights without out blankets and some hot tea. Im hoping since this is the lowest of the lows it will only get better from here.

Chapter 5:  Inside the Barbed Wire, pages 41-47

We didn’t want to wake up and say goodbye. I didn’t want to face what was coming ahead i get being the man of the house but it’s different taking care of a family in a house where we know we are “Safe and content” to going to a new place with new people and new things to worry about. I hope i can take care of them i hope i can still do my best for making them feel safe and at home no matter where we are. (ken)

Chapter 4:  Ten Days to Pack, page 41-47

I don’t know what to take with me to camp i didn’t know what we needed the most. As we kept going through everything more and more things seemed so vital. I need things to take care of the kids and i need the things that are most cherished by the family. I hope that this is for the best and that nothing extremely bad happens. The question is how will we survive? Will this be our last home? Its not even going to be a home at all. (Mother)

Research on Discrimination

LGBTQIA+ Discrimination

Everyone in the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Aseual) community gets discriminated against in one way or another because being “gay” isn’t “normal” being gay is more accepted now but is still a problem we face. Being part of the LGBTQIA community I myself have been discriminated against. Definitely guys get it worse than girls but when it comes to nonbinary people and transgender they get told that they aren’t valid. They get told that they will never be what they strive to be. Another way that transgenders and nonbinary people get discriminated by are when people do not respect pronouns or prefered names.

Within schools it’s a very enclosed environment and you have to be around these people every single day and if you’re gay you get looked at different. People are definitely more rude whether they realize it or not. You get started at in the halls or walking in public holding hands for example one time with my ex (my girlfriend at the time) were at a park holding hands and being a couple and there was this guy there with his kid and he came up to us and told us that god has a path for us and that this is just a road bump and that he’ll find us good men one day. Also with my other ex girlfriend we would be in the halls at school and we had this guy come up to us and say sex isn’t real until there was a guy involved and for days he asked to have a threesome and was extremely disrespectful toward us and that’s part of discrimination.

It’s scary for anyone who is part of a minority to go some places because of discrimination against them.  Its sad that we live in a world that is so close minded where you can not even love who out want to love based on gender, religion, race and ethnic background. We will always get judged for everything and that isn’t how we should be but since the beginning of time that has been what we were taught to do. We need to break the cycle and break discrimination.

According to this website Brandon Gallie states some statistics about the LGBTQ community

  • The LGBT community earns as little as $0.68 for every dollar that a heterosexual man earns, even when qualifications are equal or even greater for the LGBT worker.
  • The percentage of the US workforce that identifies itself as being LGBT: 4%.
  • 21%: That’s the percentage of LGBT employees who report having been discriminated against in hiring, promotions and pay.
  • 1 out of every 25 complaints made about workplace discrimination comes from LGBT employees.
